New Director at ICDI
07-09-2007From 1st of September 2007, Mathijs Euwema will be the new director of ICDI. Co-founders and -till recently- co-directors Rekha Wazir and Nico van Oudenhoven, will stay with ICDI as Senior Associates. Mathijs: “Of course I am really happy and also honored that the people at ICDI think I can do this job. I guess it all fits with ICDI’s plans to further develop and strengthen the organization in the coming years. It’s a really special team that has been created here by Nico and Rekha. My goal will be to keep it special, and to make ICDI even more of a ‘household name’ when it comes to issues related to children’s well-being. For that reason, I am also very happy that Nico and Rekha will stay with the organization. Their knowledge, experience, creativity, and networks will thus continue to benefit us in our work.†Nico and Rekha started ICDI over ten years ago. Since then ICDI has been involved in many research, capacity building, and policy development projects all over the world, projects that have benefited thousands of children and youth at risk. Currently ICDI has seven staff members. Rekha and Nico: “It was our dream to create an organization that would be able to tackle the underlying causes of children’s problems in a flexible and creative way. Through the years it was often a struggle to do what we set out to do. But through our hard work and persistence ICDI now seems to have grown into a real capable organization. With Mathijs as Director and the other very competent Program Managers, we are confident, we can further expand our horizon, and become even more effective in fulfilling our mission: promoting the well-being of children that grow up in difficult circumstances. In our new role as Senior Associates we will continue to support the organization as best we can.†*picture: Mathijs and Nico discussing ICDI's project in Latvia
