Child Rights in Pakistan
24-11-2011
Saba Ismail (24) comes from the Khyber Pakhtun Khwa province of Pakistan. In this traditional part the country violence against children is common. Saba believes that by promoting children’s rights Saba she will be able to reduce violence against children in homes, schools and their work places. She also believes that in the long run this will also benefit teachers, parents and policymakers. Saba has trained 15 Child rights Activists who in turn visited schools, organized debates, stage shows at schools and network meetings. It is impressive how these children, despite living in a very hierarchical society, have managed to have their voices heard and put Child Rights on their communities agenda.
Saba was supported in her project by the Coalition on Rights and Responsibility of Youth.
