Vrijetijdsbesteding als krachtbron; ICDI start nieuw project in Nederland

In het kader van het Europese Jaar van Bestrijding van Armoede en Sociale Uitsluiting(EJBASU) is ICDI een nieuw project begonnen in Nederland. In de komende maanden zullen we gaan praten met kinderen en jongeren van allochtone afkomst uit achterstandssituaties om te onderzoeken waarom het met veel van hen toch heel goed gaat; de focus is dus op de kracht van deze jongeren. We zullen daarbij vooral kijken naar de invloed die vrijetijdsbesteding heeft op integratie.

Support to young people that grew up in institutions; new project in the Ukraine

Together with the Ukrainian organisation Labour and Health Social Initiatives (LHSI; www.lhsi.org.ua) and the Ukrainian State Social Services for Family, Children and Youth (SSSFCY), we will implement the project 'Get your Chance; towards a better future for institutionalized children and graduates of boarding schools by improving social services and strenghtening life skills'. This is a 30 months project, running from April 2010 till September 2012. The project is funded by the Matra programme of the Dutch Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

Exchange visit by Kenyan delegation

Next week (1-5 March) there will be an inspiring exchange between Dutch and Kenyan experts on youth care and child protection for the project ‘Fighting violence to ensure education for all’  in the Dutch Child Rights Home, organisised by Defence for Children. There is much to be learned from each other! About protecting children and reducing Violence Against Children at the home, school and community level.  The outcomes of this exchange will be used to plan future activities of the partners in this project in Kenya.
