Esther Miedema (Senior Programme Manager)
Esther (09-02-1974) is an educational specialist, with a particular interest in (educational) issues relating to sexual and reproductive health, HIV and AIDS. She has more than nine years experience in the field of education and development, and has primarily worked with local NGOs and international organizations in South East Asia (Indonesia and the Philippines) and Sub Saharan Africa (Kenya, South Africa and Mozambique). Her particular expertise lies in research, capacity building, policy development, monitoring and evaluation in formal and non-formal (vocational) education and the youth welfare sector. In addition to working within the ICDI team, Esther has embarked on a PhD looking into the relationships between international discourse and national policy-making relating to HIV and AIDS education and local level (classroom) implementation of HIV and AIDS related education in selected sites in Mozambique.
